Hon. Eric Effiong Akpan is the Member Representing Nsit Ibom State Constituency and Chairman, House Committee on Public Accounts of the 8th Legislative Assembly of The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly.
Commitment to Accountability
As chairman of the house committee of the house committee on public accounts and the deputy chairman of the committee on Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Hon. Akpan has demonstrated a strong commitment to accountability and effective oversight, ensuring that public funds are judiciously utilized for the benefit of the people.
In addition to his role in these committees, Hon. Eric Akpan is a member of several other committees, including the Advisory Committee on Parliamentary Matters, The Committee on Women Affairs, Social Welfare and Cooperative, The Committee on Security, youths and sports among others.
Furthermore, Hon. Eric Akpan has been actively involved in the legislative process, sponsoring and co-sponsoring several bills aimed at improving healthcare, promoting tourism and culture, enhancing employment opportunities and protecting the rights of vulnerable groups in the society. His commitment to enacting laws that positively impact the lives of the people is commendable and reflects his deep understanding of the needs of his constituents.
Constituency Projects and Development
He has successfully facilitated the establishment of a primary health center in Ikot Oku Nsit, a world bank project, the execution and completion of electrification projects in Afia Nsit 1, construction of the Mbiokporo Civic Center and many others are clear indications of his dedication to improve the healthcare and social needs aimed at enhancing the living conditions of his constituents.
Mega Empowerment Initiative
In recognition of exemplary leadership and commitment to service, as a humanitarian he undertook a 150million mega empowerment series where 1650 constituents were empowered with Cars, Mini buses, tricycles, motorcycles, sewing machines, industrial sewing machines, lawn mowers, refrigerators/ freezers and many other items, also cash grants ranging from 200,000 to 1 million naira, including bursaries to over 500 indigenous students of Universities across Nigeria.

Hon. Eric Akpan has received several accolades and commendations from various quarters for his Magnanimity towards his constituents.
His passion for community development, coupled with his dedication to the welfare of his constituents have endeared him to many, making him a true representation of an effective and responsive leadership.
Before his proclamation into the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly in June, 2023, Hon. Eric Akpan has been the Executive Chairman of council between 2017 – June, 2023.
